Dreaming Outside of the Box: Waking Up in the World of Reparto Studio

The Fashion World’s "Bizarre" Dreamers

If you’ve ever woken up feeling slightly irritable, incredibly creative, and dreading to participate in the "real world," then you already understand the DNA of Reparto Studio. Founded in 2019 by Ana and Margil, the creative duo has created a sanctuary for the quirky, the ironic, and the community-driven.

Backstage at 080, Margil and Ana’s energy is the perfect antidote to fashion’s occasionally stiff upper lip. They aren't trying; they’re just trying to make sure everyone is invited to the party.

With the morning buzzing with energy, slightly chaotic organization across the different dressing rooms, and staff running everywhere, Margil and Ana took the time to meet with me and bring their fun, kind energy to the interview. The pieces in this collection are just the same - fun, a bit chaotic, and leaving room for you to be exactly whoever you want to be.

Setting the Scene: Dreams

Forget the polish of runways past. For this collection, Reparto is leaning into the relatable grumpiness of everyday life and the surrealism of our sleeping minds.

The Darling Devotion Journal: How would you describe the world of Reparto in three words?

Margil: Humor, characters, and community.

DDJ: What is the inspiration behind today’s collection?

Ana: The vibe of the collection is like, you just woke up from the siesta. You don’t want to go to work. You are, like, angry.

Margil: That’s the vibe of most of the collection. Dreams combined with this dark vibe of being angry like, "I need to go to work, but I was living my best life in my dream."

The DNA of Reparto: Freedom & Expression

Reparto doesn't overthink. Their design process is intuitive, messy, and centered on the freedom of expressing yourself.

DDJ: Do you have a preferred silhouette that you like to design?

Margil: The silhouettes that work best for us are deconstructed pieces - like making a T-shirt that is asymmetrical. We also work with a lot of irony and just do whatever we want. We don’t think too much. We just do. We’re like: "Okay, this works. This is Reparto, and this is us."

I particularly appreciated the color palette. Many designers went for the muted, fall/winter tones. But Reparto Studio has a strong adherence to black, lace, deconstructed silhouettes, and particularly in this season - hot pink and leopard print. It made me want to go on a vacation and stay up all night and go straight to work the next day without blinking an eye. So is life - messy, imperfect, fun, chaotic, open to interpretation.

The Future of Reparto: Big Dreams

Despite their playful irony, Reparto has serious goals. Between the "angry" siesta vibes lies a genuine message of radical inclusion and big-league ambition.

DDJ: One of your themes is dreams. What is one dream you have for Reparto?

Ana: Our biggest dream at this moment is to sell at Dover Street Market.

Margil: Yeah, that’s our main goal. That would be our biggest dream come true.

DDJ: What feeling do you want to evoke when someone wears Reparto for the first time?

Margil: We want you to feel like you like fashion and you don’t take it too seriously. But also, it’s okay to be different. There’s a place for everybody. We are a brand that has been here since 2019, but every year, we know each other better as a creative couple. We’re not tied to any rules. We just try to have fun because we’re making fashion. We’re not going to the moon! We want to make the best memories for when we are older.

Final Reflections: Support Your Local Everything

As the interview wrapped, Margil and Ana left me with a simple, powerful call to action that resonates far beyond the runway.

Reparto's Closing Thoughts: "Support your local emerging fashion brands and support your local everything. Buy fashion."

I definitely resonate with this sentiment as a small business owner myself. I like to go out of my way to research and find local businesses to support when I’m in need of fashion, food, trinkets, etc. I love supporting emerging fashion designers in any way I can. I particularly love learning about their stories, their passion, and sharing it with my audience. Buying small also helps you identify your own personal style, passion, and “why” since you’re not explicitly following a fast fashion trend.
